Functions
• Plan, implement and evaluate workers education programs• Budgets for seminars and workers education activities as recommended by the Organization, Publicity & Workers Education Committee (OPWEC) and as approved by the National Executive Council(NEC)• Produce, prepare and update workers education materials and handouts• Advise the Union on educational training needs and target groups.• Recommend resource persons and human resources within and outside the Union to implement workers education activities and programs
.• Account for seminars and education activities and prepare for submission financial and narrative reports.• Carry out research for the purpose of developing workers education programs and activities.• Plan and organize annual evaluation meetings of workers education programs and activities.

Workers Education
During the period 2015 to 2016 a total of 426 members participated in workers education activities which were organized by ZUFIAW. In some activities, employers participated in the education programs which were jointly attended by management and branch union leadership. Even though education activities are on going, the following activities took place:-

The union relied on its workers educators to implement the program, while in some instances invited external resources persons were hired for specialized topics.

Please note that these education activities were covering matters of capacity building for union leadership especially at Branch and District levels to improve their understanding of the union structure and functions, collective bargaining, grievance handling, labour laws and other trade union information relevant to their day to day responsibilities. The expected outcomes were that the trade union leaders to becomes more efficient and effective in carrying out their respective functions. These expectations were achieved in most instances as confirmed by their feedback through end of activity evaluations.
