ZUFIAW Trustee GOVT appoints ZUFIAW on Pensions Board
Mr Alfred Chifota, the National Trustee of Zambia Union of Financial Institutions and Allied Workers(ZUFIAW) has been appointed to represent workers on the Pensions and Insurance Authority (PIA) Board of Directors by the Minister of Finance Mr Felix Mutati with immediate effect.
The appointment was made in accordance with Section 6(2) (h) the Pension Scheme Regulation Act No 28 of 1996, CAP 255 of the Laws of Zambia, which prescribes the composition of the Board and includes a representative of a trade union representing workers in the insurance and pensions industries.
PIA was established by an Act of Parliament to provide for the prudential regulation and supervision of pension schemes in Zambia.
Other ZUFIAW workers representatives currently serving on the board of directors to protect workers interests are Mr Chingati Msiska sitting on the National Pension Scheme Board of Trustees in his capacity as President of Federation of Free Trade Unions of Zambia (FFTUZ) in accordance with Section 54 First Schedule Section 3 1(a) of NAPSA Act CAP 256 of the Laws of Zambia and Mr Lyson Mando, the National Executive Secretary, FFTUZ who sits on the Workers Compensation Fund Control Board in accordance with Section 12 of the Workers Compensation Act CAP 271 of the Laws of Zambia.
Ms Maureen Mwanagweshi, the ZUFIAW National Women’s Chairperson represents workers on the Zambia National Building Society Staff Committee of the Board.
