Lusaka , In a recent gathering at the NATSAVE signing ceremony, the Zambia Union of Financial Institutions and Allied Workers (ZUFIAW) President , Alfred Chifota, took the stage to address a range of topics pertinent to the financial institution and its workforce.
Mr Chifota commenced his speech by expressing gratitude for the collective efforts that have led to the acknowledgment and solidification of the achievements of the bargaining unit team. The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the successful negotiation of a salary increment for employees, a feat that underscored the commitment of both management and union representatives to the welfare of workers.
Acknowledging the collaborative spirit exhibited during the negotiation process, Chifota lauded the honesty and dedication of the management team. He also expressed optimism regarding the implementation of Transport and Housing allowances, pending guidance from the Emoluments Commission through the Harmonization and Rationalization report.
However, amidst the celebration of this milestone, Chifota did not shy away from addressing pressing administrative issues. These included concerns raised by the local branch executive regarding Medical, Overtime, Dinner, and Transport allowances, as well as allegations of intimidation by supervisors and managers across the branch network. Chifota emphasized the importance of addressing these issues through constructive dialogue and cooperation between the union and management.
As the event drew to a close, Chifota extended his appreciation to all attendees for their support and attention.
